MERCY FLIGHT CENTRAL WELCOMES SENATOR PAM HELMING FOR A VISIT
CANANDAIGUA, NY— October 24, 2024 — Mercy Flight Central was honored to host Senator Pam Helming at its headquarters, where she viewed the organization’s latest additions to its air medical fleet and training capabilities. During her visit, Senator Helming toured Mercy Flight Central’s state-of-the-art AW119MKII helicopter and the newly developed mobile simulation unit, gaining insight into the organization’s commitment to leading-edge patient care and crew readiness.
In addition to exploring the life-saving technology and equipment, Senator Helming engaged in a productive dialogue with Mercy Flight Central’s leadership about ways to support greater access to emergency medical transport and reduce barriers for patients. Both parties expressed their dedication to simplifying the process of obtaining life-saving air medical services, ensuring that patients can focus solely on their recovery. The discussion also covered Mercy Flight Central’s ongoing efforts to address the challenges of rural healthcare access, including innovative programs such as the Whole Blood Program, which provides lifesaving blood transfusions to trauma patients directly at the scene.
Senator Helming has been a strong advocate for healthcare initiatives in upstate New York, and her visit provided an opportunity to discuss important topics such as funding for air medical services, challenges with insurance reimbursements, and the need for increased Medicare rates to sustain emergency medical operations.
